Events West Riding of Yorkshire IA organise a number of different events throughout the year. These events are organised to help our members meet each other so that they may get more advice and tips on how to cope with an ileostomy or an internal pouch. Some of the events we organise are intended for fundraising purposes as well. For full details on all our forthcoming events please see the latest news pages Next Event: Drinks night, Victoria Hotel - Leeds City Centre The next meet will be held on Tuesday 21st September from 7.30pm in Bridgets Room at the Victoria pub on Great George Street in Leeds City Centre, LS1 3BB. Your first drink on the night will be free and friends and family are also welcome. Social Events We organise social events for members to meet each other and share their experiences of living with an ileostomy or an internal pouch. Some of these social events are help jointly with Leeds NACC so that NACC members can learn more about life after colorectal surgery. The social events are a fantastic way, especially for our younger members, to make new friends and lifelong contacts who will provide mutual support at a difficult time. Hospital Open Days We work closely with the local hospitals and support their open days. These are usually held twice or three times a year, depending on the hospital. The aim of the events is to give individuals the chance to meet with appliance manufacturers and delivery companies. These events are especially useful to people who have just undergone surgery or those people who are looking to change their appliance or delivery company. AGM In accordance with our constitution, we hold a yearly Annual General Meeting. The meeting usually starts with a lecture, given by a someone connected to the organisation and on a subject of interest to our members, and is followed by a brief business meeting where our Committee members are elected for another year.
